Early Childhood Special Education (Beginning Together Preschool Inclusion Program)
Inclusion Preschool: Special education services and support are provided through NKSD for eligible preschoolers aged 3 through 5 years old. Students may receive instruction in District preschool classrooms or in another community preschool program. Community preschool classrooms in which students may receive their services include ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Programs) and Head Start.
Preschool classes are typically 3 or 4 sessions per week, depending on the students age, and are 2 ½ hours long. Placement is determined based on evaluation results and IEP team recommendations. Location of services is determined by: neighborhood school, space availability, age of child and transportation considerations. Some students may need to receive only a support service, for example, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy, or Vision services. These services are accessed at the child’s neighborhood school.
