Principal's Message

Drew CrandallAugust 16, 2018

Dear Poulsbo Elementary families,

I am so excited to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!  For those of you returning to us, welcome back!  For those of you new to our school community, I think you will find Poulsbo Elementary to be an extraordinary place for your child to learn.

First of all, I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Drew Crandall and I am the Poulsbo Elementary principal.  I have been in education for many years as an elementary school teacher and administrator.  This is my second year at Poulsbo and I feel extremely fortunate to serve our community!

Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for your student.  To create a safe environment for your child and all children, we need your help.  When coming on campus to volunteer or visit, you will need to enter through the front doors as all other doors will be locked.  New this year, our front door will also be locked after 9:30 and all visitors will need to be buzzed in using a video monitor.  Again, this allows us to meet our goals of providing a safe learning environment for your child.  We will be continuing with the Raptor visitor/volunteer check-in program that we implemented last year.

Please read our parent handbook on our website.  And, as always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me.

Important upcoming dates:
August 29 from 5-7 will be our Back-to-School BBQ.  This will be a time to meet your teacher, drop off school supplies and have dinner with our community.
September 5 is the first day of school for first through fifth graders!
September 10 is the first day of school for Kindergarten and Preschool!
October 24-26 are the dates set aside for fall conferences.

The full school year calendar is available at

I look forward to a wonderful year of growth and learning!

Drew Crandall, Principal
